Spirit Conception Creation ... birth from life
To a Maori Artist there is no distinction between art and craft. Together they exist within a parallel universe of living mahi creating eternal sacred thread.

Shapes and colours of storytelling
Energy lines of earth and matter bypass thought as the mahi commences. This we call the wairua of our bones. Rising from the earth up through our feet and out our third eye connecting with life itself.
Creative works themselves become a spiritual conversation on earth
The physical spirit of our creation offers new meanings behind the object of our Mahi.
The act of creating a process of Ka
We highlight nature in our weave as a vessel seeking stairway patterns from the stars of Matariki to the flax woven floors of the wharenui.
We evolved in the stars, descended from their creative weaving patterns, streamed timelessly in light threads of blood across time land and sea through blood and aroha for nature as family.
Hapu and iwi

The afterbirth of the child is buried beneath the family tree. Each family even now have one special tree used for this custom passed down for generations.
A breastplate of love
Nutured by love Maori acknowledge the ongoing births of their mokopuna into the tribe with differing rituals and customs to celebrate life.
Some mokopuna were chosen from birth to be trained in the practises of Maoridom.
The sacred thread
Te Aho Tapu the sacred thread of Poutama. For us Poutama is a sacred name meaning much more than words as we recite our ancestry to connect with the land and skies above with the force of our human spirit.
Navigating by the stars
Past, present and future wairua are spirals of life weaving stories within stories all contained in an individual work of inner spirit.
Maori have navigated their way across the pacific using the stars as their guide to journey for new lands. Aotearoa is that special place where our spiritual perspectives to nature thrive to this day.
