Hinemoa & Tutanekai

Hinemoa's story... no myth and all as real as her descending children. Born to Whakarewarewa married into Rangiwewehi the story is full of romance and wonder of her agility and skills as a swan.

The combination of her strength and will to defy her own Rangatira customs became songs of love and wisdom.

Hinemoa
The Flute

The Flute a symbol of Tutanekai to all across the motu of Rotorua. The man with jet black hair flowing and curling from the old church steppal up into the long night and into the starlit universe to choose his star  puhiariki from the heritage of the old black swans of Ohomairangi.

His mana. His island home.

His magic, wooing the spirit of nga wahine toa with music the highest of gold threads born of his mother.
